Job Description:

Primary Role and Purpose  
The Special Programs Coordinator, under the supervision of the School Principal, will work as administrative support overseeing all special program related aspects across campuses.  This individual will assist the campus principal in managing the departments of Special Education, LEP, ESL, Dyslexia/504, and Interventions.  In addition, he/she will provide guidance and work closely to the master teachers. The overall goal is to assist our principals, teachers, parents, and staff to educate our students and their character by reaching out to our own community. This gives our students a sense of pride and purpose by inspiring them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications  
  • Texas Certified Teacher required
  • Middle Management/Principal certification preferred
 Education   
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited school required
  • Master’s degree preferred
 Skills
  • Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Capable of instructing students and managing their behavior
  • Knowledge of the operations detailed for Special Education 
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
 Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • 5 years teaching experience preferred
 Responsibilities and Duties                              
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to all areas encompassing discipline, Dyslexia, special education laws, 504 laws, and attendance laws
  • Capable of interpreting laws, policies, and procedures
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of operating computer to develop databases, excel spreadsheets, and word processing
  • Knowledge of Review 360 and JR3 discipline tracking database
  • Able to conduct staff development workshops in the areas of special programs intervention to enhance classroom management techniques for teachers and staff
  • Capable of developing individual behavior plans/contracts for special education and 504 students
  • Must have current Crisis Prevention Intervention certification
  • Serve as Parent Coordinator and Assists in planning meeting with parents for the purpose of enhancing the effectiveness of relationships between a school district and local community
  • Under direction, serves as a liaison between the parent, school and student
  • Maintain student data and other records in compliance with SPED policies and submit required reports.
  • Articulate curriculum between and among student levels
  • Provide faculty in-services on special education items / issues
  • Attend ARDs as assigned designated representative for the campus principal
  • Manage classroom organization
  • Coordinate special education services
  • Knowledge in learning disorders and assists with placements for students with special needs
  • Evaluate Student Progress
  • Ability to interact with students, parents, staff and community
  • Oversees the departments of Special Education, LEP/ESL, Dyslexia/504, and Interventions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
