Job Description:
Position Summary:
Founded in 2002, Beyond Basics is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to eradicate illiteracy, transforming the lives of students and creating stronger communities. Our one-on-one, multisensory tutoring program helps students achieve grade-level proficiency in reading in an average of six weeks. In addition to our structured literacy interventions, we cultivate curiosity and encourage a love of lifelong learning with fine arts activities that expand horizons.
Reading Testers play a critical role in helping Beyond Basics achieve its vision to provide high quality literacy and educational programs. Reading Testers are responsible for administering Woodcock Reading Mastery Tests to students in our Read to Rise tutoring program.
Job Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:
Communicate with the Outcome and Assessment Manager to schedule dates for testing in the school
Pick up test booklets from the Beyond Basics Office in Southfield, Michigan on or before the day of testing
Administer the Woodcock Reading Mastery Test to students who are being considered for the Beyond Basics program
Once testing is complete, return “Test In” booklets to the Beyond Basics Office
Test out students when cycle is complete by administering the Woodcock Reading Mastery Test
Return the completed “Test Out” booklets to the Beyond Basics Office
Education Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree and possession of a valid
Michigan Teaching Certificate

Other Requirements:
Must be able to work in person. Reading Testers travel to the different Metro-Detroit school locations. Reading Testers must have access to reliable transportation as the testing locations and schedule varies regularly.
Other Information:
This position is part time. Hours will vary depending on the week. Our schedule generally follows the school schedule

Work Environment:
This position operates in a school environment. This role routinely uses documents and materials for tutoring in a classroom. Local travel to Metro-Detroit school is also required for position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; uses hands as well as talk and hear. The employee occasionally stands and walks. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to focus on documents.
