Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Helps students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women;
Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior;
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;
Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives;
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required;
Counsels with colleagues, students and/or parents on a regular basis;
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct;
For the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure;
Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner;
Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance;
Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations;
Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned; Strives to maintain and improve professional competence;
Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required;
Assists in the development of the IEP, including the development of specific instructional objectives and unique services to meet the needs of students;
Makes modifications and accommodations of the classroom environment for the student with a disability in the regular or special education classroom;
Monitors student’s progress in accordance with the IEP;
Reports to and carries out any other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS -
Required:
Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist Licensure, Mild/Moderate;
Desired:
A commitment to working with students, professionals, and community members in a multi-cultural setting;
Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative relationship with other teachers in the development of curriculum plans and materials;
Interest in the creative process and appreciation for the products of this process;
Flexibility in scheduling and working with students and staff;
Willingness to participate in staff and curriculum development, with and without released time;
Seeking creative initiative in ways to help students attain their maximum potential;
Willingness to work in collaboration with other school personnel.
