Seiad Valley, CA
Invites applications for the position of
5-8 grade Teacher or 5-8 Teacher/Administrator

About the position:

Seiad Elementary School is seeking an upper-grade teacher or teacher/administrator beginning July 1, 2016.  The position is full time and starting salary is between $40,000-$47,000 for teaching (more for teacher/administrator) plus benefits.

District Profile

Seiad Elementary School is a K-8th school located in a remote, isolated rural site on the Klamath River.  The staff, students, and community are close and cohesive, accentuating high academic and behavior expectations.  Classroom and group sizes are very small, with an average of 15 students per classroom (K-4 and 5-8).  The student to instructional adult ratio is 6 to 1.  Current standard based texts, materials, and supplies are sufficient for promoting a quality education for the students.
The goal of Seiad Elementary is to meet the individual needs of each child every day.  Due to the multi-graded classrooms, students are easily integrated into the appropriate academic situation.  Small group settings further facilitate individualized instruction.  Attendance is excellent.  Discipline and behavioral problems are negligible.  Staff and students look forward to school each day.

Community Profile

Seiad Valley is a picturesque valley 56 miles west on Hwy. 96.  Surrounded by mountains, the community of Seiad is home to about 250 people.  The town has a combination store/post office and one gas station.  Housing opportunities are limited.  There are some homes for rent in Seiad or neighboring communities.  The closest towns are Happy Camp (population 1190), about 30 minutes west, Yreka (population 7600), about 1 ¼ hours east.  Ashland and Medford Oregon are about 1 ½ hours northeast.  To live on the river, one must enjoy quiet, country living.
