Job Description:

Invictus Prep is a college prep middle school in Brooklyn, NY with a clear-cut vision: academic success for students in high school, college and life.  Our teachers are driven by student learning, high academic results, and work relentlessly towards our goals for our students.
 
While similar in structure to many other No Excuses charter schools, Invictus Prep differentiates itself through its staffing structure and class size. At Invictus Prep:
• We place high priority on our intervention programs to ensure that we fully address student gaps
• Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 24 students: By keeping our classes small, we are able to increase the amount of individual support we can provide to our scholars. We aim to maximize academic growth by creating a supportive, and highly focused environment. 

PERFORMANCE
EXPECTATIONS:    CURRICULUM AND EDUCATION:
Work collaboratively with classroom teacher to successfully implement integrated instruction with focus on science and the arts. Demonstrate an understanding of technology and curricular integration as it relates to art. Instruct students in the elements and principles of design through disciplines such as drawing, painting and sculpture.
  • Encourage student creativity.
  • Create exhibits of student artwork 
  • Assess needs of students and evaluate student achievement
  •  Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners of all ability levels
  • Communicate with students, student counselors, and parents through conferences, quarterly reports, and other means.
  • Participate in faculty committees and professional development as required
  • Actively participate in the continuing development of school-wide curriculum, school structures, and school culture as we expand to full capacity.
  • Comply with and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy 
  • Be committed to working with a diverse student population. Create and utilize alternative assessment tools. 

Job Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL and PROFESSIONAL:
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in art education
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience
  • Hold or meet the qualifications for licensure in New York
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in exceptional education and implementing IEPs
  • Knowledge of current educational research
  • Dedication and passion for our school's unique vision, professional standards, and values
  • Dedication to making the visual arts accessibe and meaningful to each student.
