Essential Functions Summary
  • Design and develop program.
  • Develop daily lesson plans to teach general drama and performing arts to K-8th grade students.
  • Teach knowledge and skills within the domain of performing arts: theatrical arts, acting, tech theatre, lighting, stage and set design, sound design, choreography/movement, public speaking, dramatic and musical performances, creative expression, and the like.
  • Produce plays and musical theater productions involving various age groups.
  • Build relationships and mentor students.  Inspire and motivate students to extend themselves to after school clubs, school plays, and performance opportunities.
  • Differentiate performing arts curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body.
  • Integrate drama with academic domains and classes.
  • Maintain care/responsibility for school-owned theater supplies and equipment to prevent loss or misuse.
  • Active contributor and team member to Essentials team.

Salary Range: Starting annual salary $46,068 - $77,528 (based on education & experience step and ladder, max 9 years teaching experience credit)

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred: Teaching credential or license, generalist or domain specific.
  • Welcomed: acting, musical theater, stage craft and/or voice experience.  Speech and debate experience.
  • 3-5 years classroom experience.  Candidates should have classroom teaching experience teaching drama as well as experience with the production of plays and musical theater productions involving various age groups.
  • Strong foundation in the theatrical arts, acting, tech theatre, lighting, stage and set design, sound design, choreography/movement, and the like.  Knowledgeable about the skills for public speaking, dramatic and musical performances, and creative expression.
  • Utilizes the repertoire of all types of performance styles that are appropriate for the age of the student.
  • Grant permission for a criminal background check upon hire.
