SOCIAL EMOTIONAL SUPPORT COUNSELOR
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:Provide mental health services for individuals and families including counseling, consultation, case management, and provide educational consultation services to other staff.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Be informed of and implement current federal and state laws, education code, and Morongo Unified School District policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with public and private agencies to offer programs that foster pro-social skills and prevent violent behavior; provide services to strengthen families as well as students.
- Serve as consultant to special and regular education teachers in the implementation of the student's IEP:
- Plan, coordinate and/or develop educational interventions, behavior management, and counseling/mental health programs.
- Develop, coordinate, and provide in-ser-vice training to staff and parents.
- Participate in a variety of meetings, including Multi-Tiered Systems and Supports (MTSS) and Individualized Education Programs (IEP).
- Provide individual and group counseling services for students, staff, and parents as deemed necessary and appropriate.
- Collect data and prepare treatment history and medical billing records.
- Other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISOR:School Site Administration
ASSIGNMENTIWORK YEAR:184 days inclusive of the comprehensive school year and extended school year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of valid California license as a Clinical Social Worker or a Marriage, Family Therapist as granted by the State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
And/Or
- Possession of a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing service as School Counselor, Social Worker, or School Psychologist.
- Experience working with K-12 students providing individual and group counseling.
