Job Description:

REMOTE SPANISH TEACHER NEEDED:

Looking for a dynamic teacher willing to teach full-time REMOTELY between the dates of APRIL 3-JUNE 3RD (slightly flexible dates if the right candidate was found).

How this will work:

1. Instruction: Teacher will teach remotely via Zoom, projected on a smartboard, into a classroom of students at Mound Westonka High School.

2. Instruction: There will be a classroom monitor in the classroom to assist the teacher with preparation of materials, taking and reporting attendance.

3. Technology: Students' leaning platform is Schoology and student management system is Skyward.

4. Technology: Teacher will be provided teacher access to Schoology/Skyward Family Access.

5. Grading/Assessment: Teacher will be expected to grade/assess/report students' understanding of the material.

7. Curriculum: department members will be supportive of curriculum materials but day to day, weekly lesson plan preparation will be done by the remote teacher.

8. Student Management: Classroom Monitor will be primarily responsible for student management.

9. Collaboration/Support: Teacher will be supported by the math department at MWHS.

Teaching Assignment:

4 sections of CIS (College in the Schools Spanish) *gives students college level credit for college level spanish performance
1 section of Spanish 2 (flexible if the candidate preferred to only teach CIS)

Compensation Salary:

$11,483.84

Job Requirements:

This position is responsible for providing digital instruction where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success in accordance with district and state policies and laws.

This position will instruct students online via Zoom, with a classroom monitor in the classroom to help (see above).

Must be certified (Minnesota teaching license) or eligible for certification in the content area.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to provide virtual instruction, assessing and encouraging student progress

  • Communicates effectively via email, online discussion boards, telephone, and video conferencing

  • Ability to manage an online learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies

  • Teach at an appropriate instructional level

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning

  • Provide virtual and academic content development

  • Assist all students in achieving academic standards and establishing high expectations for performance

  • Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments

  • Monitor student progress

  • Respond to adequate and inadequate student performance

  • Support students with encouragement

  • Maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom (online)

  • Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues

  • Research-based exemplary practices in curriculum, instruction, virtual learning, and assessment

  • Integrate the use of technology and multi-media in the online classroom

  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner

  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the Virtual Instruction Program in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and stakeholders in a digital environment

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes

  • Ability to use (or be willing to learn) the District platforms (Schoology, Skyward)

  • Coordinates with district staff to provide intervention, IEP accommodations and differentiation in an online environment

  • Facilitates synchronous live sessions for tutoring or lesson delivery

  • Adhere to all district virtual learning protocols

  • Other duties as assigned by the principal or immediate supervisor
