What Lead Teachers are Responsible For
- Be a leader in bringing significant and lasting change in the classroom and school by building a classroom culture that demonstrates the principles of biliteracy, sustainability, authentic inquiry, and habits of community stewardship. 
- Foster inclusion in the classroom by creating a community of learners and upholding high expectations for all students. 
- Develop and execute meaningful learning expeditions and student fieldwork. 
- Collaborate deeply with colleagues to raise student achievement. 
- Other duties as assigned. 
What to Expect in the Classroom
- Teachers are assigned to a manageable and reasonable classize, historically between 20-25 students per cohort.  
- A dedicated fellow is provided in PK-1st grades to support a classroom and shared fellows in 2nd grade support a cohort of students.  
- PK-K are full Spanish immersion and teachers manage 1 cohort of students 
- 1st-4th grade teachers teach all subject areas in either English or Spanish and manage 2 cohorts of students 
- 5th grade is departmentalized into Spanish Language Arts, English Language Arts and Math and teachers provide instruction to all 5th grade students. 
- Curriculum: Teachers create their own curriculum from the standards of each grade (Common Core in grades K-5th). And use curriculum and resources from Teachers College Reader’s Writer’s Workshop, and Investigations to support English language Arts and Eureka (EngageNY) for Math. There is a baseline of curriculum developed from teachers with support from the coaches from previous years available to revise and implement.

Where we are Located
Mundo Verde has two campuses. Our original campus with students in grades PK3-5th is located at 30 P Street NW (Cook campus). Our new campus is located at 4401 8th Street NE (Calle Ocho campus) with students in grades PK3-1st grade (adding a grade each year through 5th). 
 
We offer relocation reimbursement if a move of 50 miles or more is required.
