School Counselor (Lower School)
 
Since 1964, Seattle Country Day School has been inspiring gifted children in grades K-8 to discover their potential through inquiry. Qualifications
·       Experience with children ages 5-9 as a counselor in an educational setting. Experience with the social and emotional needs of gifted students is preferred;
·       Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required – Master’s Degree is preferred;
·       Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong organizational ability in an environment where priorities often change;
·       Ability to develop and coordinate student intervention plans with parents, faculty, administration, and outside professionals.
 
Responsibilities
Reports to the Head of School. Specific responsibilities include the following:
 
·       Serve as a consultant to teachers, students, parents, outside professionals, and school administration to help address the social and emotional needs of students;
·       Work directly with students and parents on counseling issues;
·       Develop and coordinate student intervention plans with parents, faculty, administration, and outside professionals as needed;
·       Crisis intervention with students;
·       Teach Social and Emotional Learning lessons K-3;
·       Provide professional counseling referrals to families;
·       Other duties as requested by the Head of School.
 
Salary and Benefits
This position is full-time. Salary is negotiable, depending on qualifications. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Life/LTD, Retirement (TIAA-Employer Matched), Section 125 Plan.
