About Children’s Literacy Initiative:
Children’s Literacy Initiative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit; working with birth-5th grade teachers, that is committed to strengthening early childhood education and disrupting racism. Our goal is to provide Black and Latinx students with the high quality education they deserve.
For 30 years, CLI has helped educators learn high-impact instructional strategies and nurture dynamic, sustainable professional learning communities so that children become powerful readers, writers, and thinkers.
CLI’s proven theory of action shows that when teachers receive the right combination and intensity of training and coaching, they can become exemplary instructors who make an impact in helping children not only achieve but become thoughtful, active citizens who will disrupt oppression in order to build a better world for all.
Our workshops and institutes build teachers’ understanding of early childhood development as well as the art and science of teaching children how to read, write, think and make meaning. By focusing on professional skills that improve over time and are not lost when administrations, buildings, or curricula change, CLI helps create a sustainable culture of continuous improvement that introduces students to the joys of reading, writing, and life-long learning.
