York Preparatory School is a New York City independent school committed to creating a nurturing environment that challenges and supports each student in a diverse and inclusive setting. York strives to educate the whole child, meeting each student where they are, and supporting them as they grow into lifelong learners and responsible citizens.York Preparatory School is looking for a full-time learning specialist for the academic year 2025- 2026 to work with a small caseload of students ranging in grades 6-12. Jump Start is York Prep’s academic support program. Jump Start teachers work with students, as well as the classroom teachers, school administrators, parents, and other professionals to create an optimal learning environment for students. The goals of the Jump Start program are to create independent and effective learners. This is done through building awareness of academic strengths, awareness of academic challenges, ability to self-advocate, motivation to succeed, independent problem-solving ability, confidence and self-esteem, and educational counseling.
