Company Description:

 
Bronx HS for the Visual Arts is a small school (about 450 students) located within walking distance of the Bronx Zoo.  We are a Career and Technical Education school, which means my students can graduate with a CTE Certification in Graphic Design or Digital Media and Communications.  Students at Visual Arts can take up to 10 art credits and can graduate with regents and an advanced regents diploma. We recently received a multi-year federal grant to become one of the first Magnet High Schools in the city.   We are the Magnet School for Innovation through Visual Arts and are reimagining learning in our building.   We are currently working on incorporating project-based learning and expanding the arts in our community.
 
We are located in the Morris Park area and are situated in a residential community surrounded by cooperatives and houses.  I am the only principal in the building, and we are not a traditional campus school. We do not have metal detectors or scanning and have a beautiful school environment.
 
About 26% of my population is special needs and 10% are Multi multi-lingual learners. 
 
We believe in nurturing and supporting our teachers with professional learning, modeling, and guidance, and believe teachers can flourish to be exceptional educators as a result.
 
We believe in restorative approaches to discipline so our young people can learn from their mistakes and take responsibility for any harm they may have caused to themselves, others, or the community at large.
