MCOE provides educational leadership, resources, and services to schools and districts to ensure a wide array of educational opportunities for all students.
At MCOE, we help schools build internal capacity through professional development, and we provide fiscal oversight for public school districts and charter schools. We also engage in political advocacy and serve as an information hub for Mendocino County. We champion the needs of rural schools at the State level and interpret State policy to help local schools understand how it applies to them.
MCOE has two offices, one inland and one on the coast, with approximately 175 employees in total. The inland office is located at 2240 Old River Road in Ukiah, California, and the coastal office is located at 300a Dana Street in Fort Bragg, California.
MCOE works with 12 school districts serving more than 12,000 K-12 students, 15 charter and private schools serving another 1,500 K-12 students, the local community college which has three campuses in Mendocino County, and the Mendocino County Youth Project serving local at-risk youth.
This region includes populations that face significant educational deficits and barriers. These populations include federally recognized Pomo tribes, large numbers of homeless and foster youth, economically disadvantaged students, and multicultural language learners.
