P.S. 196 Mission
At P.S. 196 students and families feel respected and valued as members of the learning community and feel that their voices are heard. The teachers are committed to developing each students’ potential by nourishing their emotional well-being and encouraging them to persevere and solve problems through collaboration, discussion, and critical thinking. Students at P.S. 196 will develop an increasingly complex set of advanced literacy skills and competencies through exposure to culturally rich texts. Through Social Emotional Learning and Culturally Responsive Education, we will instill in them an appreciation of self-worth and individual difference so they can create a better present and future for themselves and their community.
