Nestled within the rugged high-desert landscape of western Nevada, the Mineral County School District has four public schools and approximately 560 students ranging in grades from preschool through twelfth grade.  The schools consist of two elementary schools, one junior high and one high school.  The District's mission is to promote student achievement and generate life-long learners through a culture of professionalism and accountability. The District offices are located in the County seat of Hawthorne.  Hawthorne is a community of approximately 3,000 people lying just to the south of Walker Lake and bordered on the west by the 11,285-foot summit of Mt. Grant.  Amenities in Hawthorne include dining and entertainment options, grocery and convenience stores, hospital and medical facility, dental care, countless outdoor recreational opportunities while exhibiting the best of a quiet hometown atmosphere.
