~~The Bronx Charter School for Children is a K-5 public charter school that is located in  the Mott Haven area of the South Bronx and the poorest congressional district in the United States. The school opened in August 2004 with 132 kindergarten and first grade students, and grew to K-5 by 2008. BCSC is guided by its core values: fostering academic excellence, nurturing the whole child and ensuring a safe environment. BCSC strategically creates opportunities to support our families and the community in ways other schools don’t.  Students, teachers, parents, and community members work together to create a learning environment that emphasizes academic achievement, builds positive self-esteem and healthy living habits, while developing responsible, thoughtful citizens of tomorrow.
